Episode 6 - Here We Go Again

So work has been really busy and interviews have fallen by the wayside.  Never fear, I will find some time to make some happen.  In the mean time, I hope you are enjoying the show and would love to hear feedback.  I have found that I am consistently finding it difficult to get my voice overs done.  As this is not a live show, I have to prerecord every one individually.  For now, I won't be doing voice overs.  Instead, I'll put some notes on some of the songs in the blog below.  Also, this means more music for you.  \m/
  1. Yi by Santa Marta Golden from El Fallo Humano  CC - BY - NC - SA  0:00  Love this band.  Love this song.  Love how it counts us into the show every week.  I hope the band releases more music soon.
  2. I know the sky loves me by axidance from split w/ abyssal & doomsday & rivers run dry  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:27  The Bandcamp for this album states that this split is a benefit for the Anarchist Black Cross.  One of my favorite metal bands doing good things!
  3. Shadows Cast by MABUS 666 from PROFIT (Demo 2002)  CC - BY - NC - ND  9:41  Old release (2002) found in the Irish Metal Archive.  One of several bands archived here I'm immediately impressed with that I have to explore more.
  4. Voices of Redemption by Serpenthia from Let There Be Silence...  CC - BY - NC - SA  16:13
Black Metal and Finland continue to go together as proved by this band.  I really can't get enough Serpenthia.
  5. Residence Of Ancient Power by Gmork from Tales Of The Midnight Forest  CC - BY - NC - ND  24:24 "Born in pain and hardest works."
  6. Fragile quiétude by Ananda from Profane  CC - BY - NC - SA  27:58  French hardcore for your listening pleasure.
  7. USA terror by NO SE from Moralny upadek systemu wartości  CC - BY - NC - SA  30:37  What are these guys singing about?  I don't know, but I'm very intrigued with this band.  Anybody who knows Polish want to help me out?
  8. On the Eve of Changes by The Symbioz from Unpromising Pictures of Today  CC - BY - NC - ND  32:50
  9. Drop The Clutch by The Unavowed from Untitled EP  CC - BY - NC - SA  35:02 Hardcore from Canada, my original homeland, but we get one four song ep, one live album, and then you call it quits?  Too bad.  I like it.
  10. Staggering, Lean Beasts by Judd Madden from Artesian  CC - BY - NC  40:33  King of doom, Judd Madden.  Check out episode 2 to hear the interview.  This is my second favorite of his albums, after Float.  All are worth the listen.  Each gives a different mood.
  11. Goryo by Hand Of Fatima from Obake  CC - BY - NC - ND  47:30  Awesome instrumental doom from netlabel Nooirax Productions.
  12. Macross by Lefthander from Condemned  CC - BY - SA  53:12  The band calls themselves In Flames meets Dark Tranquility on this album.  Hmmmm...
  13. Phasing Currents by Nethermost from Hypnotic Dirge 2012/13 | Solipsist Anthems  CC - BY - NC  59:02  Another piece of evidence in the case for getting netlabel Hypnotic Dirge's entire lineup.
  14. Gathering Storm by GRAVEYARD DIRT from SHADOWS OF OLD GHOSTS (2007)  CC - BY - NC - ND  1:04:14  Monstrous and doom filled, both of which I mean as compliments.  Another pick up from the Irish Metal Archive.
  15. Inside by We Are Guilty from Demo v1.1  CC - BY - NC - SA  1:17:50  This apparently became the project known as All Will Know and features a member of All:My:Faults.
  16. A Call to Harms by The Neologist from The Promise of Eternal Separation  CC - BY  1:22:57  Two guys + opposite sides of the USA = Awesome Melodic Death Metal!
  17. Farewell, Banner of Hope by Ruin of Remembrance from Second World  CC - BY - NC - SA  1:26:04
  18. Inocentes en mis manos by Tromort from Per Saecula Saeculorum  CC - BY - NC - ND  1:29:51  As brutal as it gets.  I'm not really a fan of straight up death metal, but it doesn't get much better than this...much like a blunt object is useful for pummeling in certain situations.
  19. BRATR A SMRT by DROM from Hectop  CC - BY - SA  1:35:03  Apparently the main theme of this album (in Czech) is the life of Ukrainian anarchist Nestor Makhno.  Lyrics are included with the download in Czech and English.  Solidarity!
  20. Io by Returning We Hear the Larks from Of Marduk E.P.  CC - BY - SA  1:42:59  Prolific artist Jak Noble creates the RWHTL albums mainly as solo projects.
  21. My Soul by Circle Of Moebius from The Inexorable Walk  CC - BY - SA  1:48:48
  22. Abuse by THE CREATOR OF from IN RESERVOIR  CC - BY - NC - SA  1:53:34
  23. Forbidden Waters by Moray Eel from Psycho: Delusion  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:00:47  Fantastic Russian Thrash!  Love her evil voice.
  24. Guiñol by Kain from Caín (demo'04)  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:04:19  The entire discography of this Spanish Thrash band is pretty solid.
  25. Taking Over (Instrumental) by Flatline from Fool's Day (2000)  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:07:04  More from the Irish Metal Archive.
  26. Sentenced To Death by Fatality from The First Wave: Irish Metal Compilation   CC - BY - NC - ND  2:12:09  An easy way to get a taste of the catalog is to download this comp.
  27. prom by Lipstick Homicide and Billy Raygun from Lipstick Homicide/Billy Raygun split 12"  CC - BY  2:25:37  Unclear if the song is by Lipstick Homicide or Billy Raygun, but I'm guessing the former.  Riot Grrrl is a movement worth supporting, though it was and is underground.
  28. Intersectionality Song by Not Right from Punk is Not  CC - BY - NC - SA  2:17:38  More Riot Grrrl!  In solidarity with feminists everywhere.
  29. Assassin System by Anarcotik from Demo  CC - BY - NC - SA  2:21:17
  30. Loveless by Teenage Suicide from Volume 1  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:24:18  One of the many projects by prolific musician Mankeulv.
  31. Bureval by Iskra from Bureval  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:25:59  One of my very favorite bands, Iskra is an Anarchist Metal band (their own designation) from western Canada that creates aggressive music about important personal and political topics.  This song discusses liberty and freedom in a police state.
  32. Voyage Of Aodh by Bakken from The First Wave: Irish Metal Compilation  CC - BY - ND - NC  2:29:38
  33. Marauders by LOST WORLD ORDER from Marauders  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:37:20  For full effect, listen to the whole album as it tells a story of humanity's collpase.
  34. Sea of Fire by Judicator from Sleepy Plessow  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:42:16  One of my favorite Speed Metal bands, a genre I'm very picky about.  If the vocals aren't right, I can't listen.
  35. I Thought The Hurricane Season Was Over by Zero Tolerance from The First Wave: Irish Metal Compilation  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:47:36
  36. R.I.P. by Hok-key from R.I.P.  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:51:52  Interesting folk metal from Belarus.
  37. Jégvirág by Obsidian Shell from Elysia  CC - BY - NC - ND  2:55:58  Been having an interesting discussion about the vocals by this band.  Do her vocals carry the song, or does she need the counterpoint of the harsher voice found in Episode 4?  What do you think?
  38. L.M.A. by Crimson Blue from Iceland  CC - BY - SA  3:02:40
  39. Failure by Wendigo from Audio Leash  CC - BY - NC - SA  3:05:26  Not really the type of metal I usually listen to (I like it harsher and more chaotic, with black metal and various metal/punk/hardcore hybrids), this is still fun.
  40. daylight death by Anne Des from The green scar (final)  CC - BY - NC - ND  3:09:10  This is just weird...but also interesting.
  41. Vodiza (Water) by Risha from Leto (Summer)  CC - BY - NC - SA  3:10:29  Russian Folk Metal = very fun apparently.
  42. Crashed into a spiralworld by All:my:faults from Neo.NøiR  CC - BY - NC - SA  3:15:27  I like them best when there is some harshness to the vocals.
  43. Branch Davidian Style by Acumen Nation from Anticore  CC - BY - NC - ND  3:18:34  I can't decide if these guys are extreme enough to play on the show, but I keep playing them, so they must be.
  44. Subjugated and Abused by Petrychor from Effigies and Epitaphs  CC - BY - NC - ND  3:21:27  This was a real find in terms of some excellent black metal with some folk influences.
  45. Decay - Baptism of The Black Phoenix's Ashes (Era's End) by Mors Universa from Vol. I  CC - BY - NC - SA  3:30:43  From Oregon netlabel Glossolalia Records which is run by the guy behind the Earthenwomb project and a member of Banewreaker.  He does more, but that is what I remember off the top off my head.  Listen to the interview in episode 1 for further details.
  46. IV by Windbruch from Silentium!  CC - BY - SA  3:44:00  Another choice from Saskatchewan based netlabel Hypnotic Dirge Records.
  47. It's still demanding by Mankeulv from II  CC - BY - NC - ND  3:52:35  One of the forces behind Teenage Suicide with a solo project.
  48. Blashyrkh Mighty Ravendark (Immortal Tribute) by Funeral in Heaven from Shanthikarma [Live EP ; 2010]  CC - BY - SA  3:54:53  Another Hypnotic Dirge release, this time from a live album...actually a live ritual performance according to the Bandcamp page.
As always, support real underground music.  You can start with the bands I play on here.  Find your local scene.  They need your support too.  See you next week.
