Episode 39 - Interview with Dahkma

This week features an interview with the local (to me) blackened crust band Dakhma.  Though they have only one release (technically a demo) to their name, Dakhma is already very impressive.  Their songs channel a potent rage and really breath with passion.  I was able to do the interview face to face with three of the four members of the band in their basement practice space.  They are all cool people that I really enjoyed interviewing.  I hope to fit an opportunity to see them live into my schedule soon.  Due to my inferior recording equipment and general lack of experience, there is a weird buzzing in parts of the interview, but it is mostly clean.  I was able to remove most of it.  Directly before the interview, I play my favorite track from their demo.  Directly after is a track they chose.  I hope you enjoy.

Episode 38 - Interview with Uzala

Today's episode features the last of my interviews from the Gilead Media Fest, this time with Chad Remains of Uzala.  If and when I can make the arrangements, I still hope to redo the wind destroyed interview with George Paul of Mutilation Rites.  Today's episode has some pretty rough patches as well, but I think there is enough there to make it worthwhile.  It was a pretty interesting conversation and Chad seemed like a genuinely good guy.  I hope you tough it out to hear the interesting parts.  Like so many of these, Uzala is not a CC licensed band, but I'll give you some links to check them out.

Episode 37: Gilead Interview with Loss

This week I feature an interview I did with Loss at the Gilead Media Fest this summer.  Loss is an American Death-Doom band from Nashville, Tennessee.  They play slow, ponderous music filled with emotion.  Quite honestly, I tend to not enjoy music which is as slow as what they play, but somehow, they make it gripping.  I can't encourage you enough to go check this band out.  I'll try to play similar music, but really, I just wish these guys were CC so I could play them.  Click the links below to check them out.

Episode 36: Interview with Owlfood

Time for another Gilead interview, though this one is a little weird.  Owlfood was at Gilead Fest, but we didn't get together to do this interview until a couple of weeks ago.  In addition, I was caught out on another interview while at the fest and missed their set.  That said, their recorded material is pretty cool.  Its much more meditative, but I think comes from a similar emotional place as many of the bands at Gilead.   I don't think I did a very good job of running an episode with similar music, so you'll just have to check them out for yourself.  This is a more meditative playlist however.  I hope you enjoy.
